Does the wii remote vibrate?

The wii remote by itself. Does it vibrate when you play like the gc controller does?

No, it's not a yes or no, because it does rumble, but not as much as a GC controller. You asked "Does it vibrate when you play like the gc controller does?" and the strict answer to that question is no, it doesn't vibrate LIKE THE GC CONTROLLER DOES, but yes it does vibrate.

It's almost subliminal, the way it vibrates, you can barely tell you've done something, but you know.

Yeah it vibrates, but you barely notice it. It is just enough to give the game a more realistic feel while not completely throwing off the motion controls.
