Was wondering if they make money off their mod or if it is all non-profit?

It's non-profit. The files for the mod itself are free, and any gains from Tahiti campaigns or other fundraiser a generally go back into the cost of producing the game itself (they hired a voice actor iirc and probably some of the programs they use aren't free, plus they can add pot bonuses for tournaments).
But who knows if Papa Strong Bad hasn't be skimming a little sweet stuff off the top

afaik, the money they get from donations, etc... primarily goes into keeping their domain and hosting servers for the downloads.
