Smash 3DS Does the 3ds version look Better than melee?

Melee looked impressive for its time, but the 3DS is a whole different beast despite being a handheld. Also, the screenshots we see, as good as they look, does no justice to how the game will look when we see it in action on an actual 3DS screen.

Yes, the 3ds version looks a lot better. Actually when they showed Brawl in the direct next to the 3ds version, i like it more than brawl. I guess it's just the art style for me, i like colors(funny because i'm color blind :D)

Honestly, Peach's more realistic design in Brawl looks uncanny to me. Actually, that is valid for the majority of the characters, but in special the Mario series characters. They just don't look as good in a realistic art style. I think Sora Ltd/Namco Bandai nailed the visuals of the 3DS version, it looks cartoony, colorful and beautiful.

I personally didn't mind the realistic style, what with all the detailing and all. I was expecting an even more realistic style, but to my (very pleasant) surprise, we got a more brightly colored, somewhat cartoonish tone that makes the game and characters pop out so much.

I was expecting Mario to look like this in the Wii U version:

If your talking graphically it's head and shoulders above Melee. I would say it's close to or on par with Brawl.

I would say that it looks much better than Melee. It almost looks like Brawl, even. The only thing Melee has it beat on is resolution, and it still doesn't look as good.

We've had this topic several times already, but I'll say it again on my part.

Anything that looks better than something is all subjective. People can say either one looks better and they're not wrong.

Graphically, however, Melee is better on some aspects like geometry, animations, and shadow quality. SSB 3D utilizes more shaders. The texture quality and lighting on both games seem to be on par with each other. Overall, SSB 3D is better on a few aspects, but not completely better than Melee.

I really don't like the poll mostly because there is no "better" option. Anyway, it looks better than melee obviously. It's the 3DS so there is no real surprise.

In most ways yes....texture and resolution-wise it doesn't. Both the textures and screen resolution appear to be lower res. The geometry, lighting, and effects look nicer.

Thus I can't answer the poll either...

If you played it on a big screen it'd look terrible. So you have to watch it on a very small screen with little definition by its very nature of being low-res, or it would looks pixelated. I wouldn't say that means little.

I have to agree with you there. You see, I also plan to hook up my 3DS via HDMI to my 50" TV, and when I do, I'm gonna be SO DISAPPOINT with the 240p sh** gwafics! WHY SO MENY SH** GWAFICS?!

We're talking about a game being played on the screen it was designed for against another game being similarly played right? I mean why would we compare them any other way?

So given that, yes, Smash 3D looks much much better than Melee.
