Not sure what you mean by counter, but yes, Sheik hands Link a brutal whooping. Easily chainthrowed and comboed, very easy to punish his moves and edgeguard, ect.

Sheik does have a pretty sound advantage over link, but as Skler showed us at VLS, Sheik doesn't just walk all over him.

The result of a clear difference in ability. No character truly counters another IMO. You just have to get better and find a way to counter your friends playing style. Just watch him and find a pattern.
