Does lucas have what it takes?

He is, in my mind, my best character and definately top tier.

But I see him getting ***** by sword characters alot. Eespically lesser good ones.

Your opinion?

Marth and ike don't have any defense against pk fire spam. Spam away leaving them open for your nair, fair, or dashing a attacks. Toon link and his camping strategy isn't that hard to defeat as well. Just air dodge and use your bat to deflect them back. I would practice trying to consistently hit the arrows and boomerang with my bat also. Sword characters in general don't pose a real problem if you know how to advance the correct way.

I second the notion that lucas is the best character in brawl!

imho, i predict lucas being high tier, not top. i love him, i main as him, but i think he just doesn't quite cut it for top tier. It's hard to say where characters are going to fit in, but already im feeling that toon link is definitely top tier and perhaps dedede? anyway if you havent noticed, all the character specific boards think their character is going to be top tier- that would be a tad weird 35 characters and all of them are top tier. >.>

I'd hate to see Lucas as top-tier, honestly. Tier whores would all switch to him and turn him into another generic Fox or Falco that half of all players use.

Jihnsius, you are so right. I never thought that. If lucas does become top tier like diddy or pit then everyone and their moms will main them. I say we vote lucas for bottom tier! Who's with me?

nobody agrees so lets just put him in high tier or mid tier.

I see Lucas as high tier atleast. His moveset is amazing. The only thing that gets in his way is his movement sometimes but new ways around that are being discovered all the time.

It all depends on how he performs at tourneys. At the moment I have yet to see a "pro" tackle Lucas. Mostly seems like a niche character to me, maybe he'll get explored but expect him to raise in ranks once all the techs get solid.

I was at a local tourney today and you do not want to know how much fun i had. every match i played, i used mind games to disrupt their strategy. Examples for me would be jumping off the edge and when they follow me or just wait i surprise them with a zap jump. I also run, auto rar, tether recover and jump back up with my invincibilty. This and the pk fire spam usually pisses off the opponent.

Manu, any person that is good or at least decent with lucas will put up a fight with anyone; especially at this point in the game.
