Does anyone think 8 man battles will be included?

Either in the online or have a way to connect 8 controllers. to have either 3v3 or 4v4 matches. A lot of the stages can be very big ( like the hyrule stage or new pork city). I'm actually suprised they did not include this yet.

Well I mean... The Wii U does have 4 USB ports and the Gamecube adapter only uses 2...

Well, assuming the Ice Climbers are back...

In all honesty. even though I'm not a game testing expert or whatever, I'm sure that would be FPS hell no matter what stage it's on. Sure, you had the multi-man modes, but the models were toned down. I'm actually curious about this, I'd appreciate anyone confirming/refuting this for future reference.

I doubt it. Most we've seen so far is 4 and that's always been Smash's maximum. I'd love to see an 8 man free for all as it'd gloriously hectic, but realistically speaking its not happening.

I dunno. The wii U is exponentially more advanced than Gamecube so it should at least be able to do this event match better than it, which has 6 people on the screen at once (But, keep in mind, all of those are kirby, the least complex character in the game)

EDIT: Not saying I want it to happen. I don't. I can barely handle 4 player free for alls.

I'm going to guess no because the system is already firing on all cylinders for the four-player matches. There is evidence of changes made to characters to take the load off, so to speak; Olimar's fewer Pikmin; Dedede no longer able to summon Waddle Dees; no more character switching for Zelda, Samus or Charizard.

If they had to do things like that to keep the toll on the RAM down, I don't see how they expect to double the number of characters on-screen.

Well... I'm no game designer, but that sounds a bit... chaotic...

I'm not sure the 3DS can handle eight Rosalinas and eight Lumas fighting in one match and most stages would be way to small for that many players.

While I'm sure we'll see 5-6 characters at once in single player modes (7 if you count Brawl's co-op Multi-Man Brawl) but regular mulitplayer battle it's a definite no (even with the 9 possible controller slots).

I think both the Wii U & Nintendo 3DS can handle so much characters as Melee seemed to have little amounts of trouble having 24 Ice Climbers at once (6 ports with 4 clones per port):

The fan game Super Smash Bros. Crusade might be your only chance of extra players at once (the latest demo can go up to 6)

It's extremely unlikely, I wouldn't mind the idea but it's still seems unlikely because smash has always been maximum 4. Plus I think if a change that large occurred Sakurai probably would've mentioned it already.

How about a 1 vs 100 mode? You have to beat 100 different opponents in a row, with each being in different rounds. No items, no "weird" stages.
