Does anyone know Smash3DS's stage decision process when playing online 'With Friends'?

Like is it just a 50/50 chance between the two you each pick? Or does the loser's choice get preference? Really want to know as trying to organise an online tourney, ideally without a chatroom as extra hassle!

It will be easier and more fair to use a chatroom. The loser should have the opportunity to counterpick for an advantage.
