Do you think Perfect Pivoting will have an impact like WaveDashing?

Sorry if there is a thread already like this, but here in this video: /watch?v=zJ_ZzAvSFis#t=443 around 7:23, it looks a lot like dash dancing. Not only does it look faster than dash dancing, but it also seems to have more distance.

Anyway, what do you guys think? C:

Wavedashing left you in neutral state for longer and allowed you to stay your current facing direction more easily. It'll have a long-term impact, I'm sure (and I can already see it happening locally), but the impact won't be big enough for it to be as game changing as the wavedash was.

It will be an important part of the game, but it wont be as crucial to actually PLAYING the game. Rather, different playstyles will depend on it and benefit from it a lot more.

Like Marth, Shulk, etc.

I noticed that Robin is a lot more mobile when using perfect pivoting. He can do retreating smash attacks and whatnot, which is much better than what he had before it was discovered.

Um yah this is a question that i get asked A LOT. People have been saying that perfect pivoting is the new replacement for wavedashing which is just not at all true. On the ground it may seem like it is a viable technique when compared with that of wavedashing, but the problem is, the mechanic that gives you wavedashing is useful both in the air and on the ground. Firstly comparing both on the ground, luigi's wavedash can basically cover all of FD in about 3-4 wave dashing, that thing is enormous. But perfect pivoting covers much less distance. Now lets compare them in the air. the air dodge mechanic in PM and Melee allows for not only aerial dodges but WAVELANDING. TBH, wave landing is used much more often than wave dashing, because itallows characters both fast and slow to cover the stage quicker which leads to a faster game. Now what does perfect pivoting have in the air? Well lets see, you cant pivot in the air so... just about nothing at all. Not to mention the air dodge mechanic from PM and melee go much further and you can actually move the air dodge in a different direction in which you are falling ( like up or diagonally up, sideways, down, actually in all directions) which lead to mixups and give people another option for getting out of combos and maneuvering the stage. Don't get me wrong, Perfect pivoting isn't a bad tech, but the problem is that it cant be used in the air, and even on ground it pales in comparison to wavedashing (well, depending on which characters). Hope this helps, sorry for any poor grammar.

Aye, I feel like it will have an impact on the flow of the game as time moves on, but only for certain characters. Though it has its uses on almost every character it just feels like some such as marth are going to utilize it much more than say megaman.

As a movement option, it won't leave an impact as it's not as effective as wavedash, but I can still see it being useful.

As a spacing/mind game option, it will be a great option. The only downside about this is that only certain characters can make good use of this while others will have a hard time.

I have gotten this to work with Falcon. His Perfect Pivot (PP) Dtilt is a good option for edgeguarding, spacing, and stops approaches. Even PP Utilt is great to catch opponents in the air and is a decent spacing option. Same thing with PP Jab and Grab.
PP Dsmash/Usmash is a decent viable option. PP Forward Smash and Ftilt are decent options, but I prefer regular pivot Fsmash and Ftilt because you gain extra momentum!

It won't have nearly as much impact but I'm sure it will be a useful tool that will be essential for high level players to master.

Perfect Pivoting discussion is better off taken to the Art of Perfect Pivoting thread, or the Mechanics and Techniques Thread.
