Smash 3DS Do you think folks with the 3DS XL screen will have a competitive advantage?

Or will putting the screen closer to my face be just as effective?

I call for a ban on huge flatscreen TVs for the Wii U version, because they'd be bigger than mine.

It's not the same though. My friend has a larger screen sure, but depending on the play location we'd still all be playing under the same monitor.

Unless you want to count Online mode in terms of competitiveness. Local Tourneys is still most of where the action happens anyhow.

I call a ban on NEW 3DS's/XL because of the lack of CPP support! And also that the screen will be a wee bit bigger and that auto 3D focus thing-a-ma-jigger

So, I'm assuming these sarcastic remarks means everyone thinks having a larger screen isn't any better?

I'm sure people will adapt to the original 3DS screen enough, I never had a reason to upgrade to the XL personally and even Smash won't make me do it, I'll learn to deal with it, I think I'll do just fine too, you know how you can test it? Watch Smash Bros footage on your 3DS, if you you can keep up with the action in the video you can probably keep up with it while playing Smash 4.

Can't speak for anyone else, but yeah. That's exactly what I was implying.

The screen size doesn't change your reaction time. It's the same reason why I'm just as effective on a 60" flat screen as I am on a 12" tube TV. If you've already played games on a standard 3DS screen and never had problems seeing anything, then you're fine. There's no advantage to having a larger screen unless the person with the smaller screen has issues with his sight. At which point one must ask, why does he still have the smaller one...?
