i play the game (Emerald) on an emulator and ROM on my computer. i have tried and SUCCESSFULLY traded with myself on a new file. and from what i understand about the trading system in this game...
can trade:
pkmn E/R/S ------ pkmn E/R/S
pkmn FR/LG ------ pkmn FR/LG
cannot trade:
pkmn E/R/S ---/--- pkmn FR/LG until you become champion (new pokedex).
this is correct right? what i want to do is breed some pokemon so they are lvl 5 and trade them to a new file i want to start in FR, this is so early on i already have my perfect team complete. imagine you want a ghost type on your team but by the time you are able to catch that pkmn the rest of your team is at a much higher lvl. then you have to stop your progress and just sit and train that pokemon until it catches up... i don't want that. and some of them are Hoen pokemon only. like i say, i don't want to waste precious experience points on weak pokemon Ratata/Caterpie (from what i remember was available in blue/red version), that you won't be keeping once better pkmn types become available like fighting/ghost/ice/dragon/steel. because wasted exp points are wasted forever.
my question is, is it possible to trade from Emerald, to someone else's save file where they already defeat Elite 4, got new pokedex, then start a new file for myself and trade them to myself. or will the game not even recognize a Taillow or Carvanha until you beat the champion? i want to get some Hoen pkmn in my first run through FR version, and so i need to bypass the champion requirement to trade. keep in mind I HAVE TRADED WITH MYSELF, and i know HOW AND WHAT TO DO.
