Do you feel that some custom moves are a little unfair?

I'm just curious. I haven't unlock all of them yet. I watched shofu stream last night and saw Dr.Mario alt cyclone special has a crazy amount of knockback and range.

From what I've seen, all of the extremely effective custom moves seem to belong to low/mid tier or subpar characters that need the boost. Donkey Kong's Spinning Cyclone and Kirby's Upper Cutter, for example.

It has huge amounts of endlag and the hitbox only comes out at the end. Theoretically, unless he predicts a move and punishes you you should be able to dodge on reaction everytime you see it and you have ample time to punish it afterwards (as long as you haven't committed to anything yet, which in that case then the Dr. Mario predicted you committing to something that won't beat the cyclone).

I haven't really tested it fully though, but that's my own theoretical analysis.

I mean, Falcon Punch has very good knockback, damage and range, yet it's a mostly useless move because of exactly the same weaknesses Alt Cyclone has (a huge amount of startup and endlag).

Other examples include Ike/Dedede F-Smash, Ganon up-tilt, etc. It's also good to remember that specific cyclone can ONLY move straight upwards and even pushes you away from the hitbox.

Denti: "Customs don't make any top tier characters better."

This is, in my opinion, a true statement and important to keep in mind. Customs only give the characters more options, which is what people really tend to want with their mains.

I did see some Palutena moves that seemed pretty IMBA but oh well, while there's a Diddy out there in the wild, why not a Palutena who can kick your ass even harder?

Have to repeat! and i agree, totally!

Not only does customs bring small diversity in play and preference, but low tier characters become a bit more viable.
IMO, all customs give is "good" to the game. (ones unlocked)

That being said, and with 416 brand new, supplementary custom moves, I wonder which gives the most uh... shall we say power boost to their character.

Donkey Kongs Spinning Cyclone comes to mind at first but at the end of the day i don't think it deserves to be banned or anything like that. I've said it before and i'll say it again, Nintendo did a great job with the balancing of this game

I personally really hate the #3 custom for Dr. Mario that explodes. I know it makes his recovery even worse (IIRC) but oh boy does that do a lot of damage. I don't really think it's ban-worthy or broken but it does seem pretty strong and hopefully it brings Dr. Mario into viability, I'm trying to unlock his other customs atm.

Outside of the online mode, they did indeed. Not perfect, but a great job nonetheless.

What percentage does it kill at, and what is the hitbox like? Like Luigi's ping?

It's not like Luigi's Up B if you're asking where it critical hits. It's just that it does like 25% damage I think and it can start killing at I think around 85% IIRC watching Keitaro yesterday and his Doctor Mario. Like I said I don't think it's broken or anything, I just found it pretty strong.

Around 70-80% on midweights. It has 2 hitboxes, the first one is just like Mario's Up-B, the ending hitbox is much bigger though (the explosion). It's a straight up buff in everything but vertical distance (and horizontal distance too).

Down-throw to Up-B is a combo after mid %s btw. Some characters apparently can DI out of it just barely. But against some characters it's a kill combo.
