I often find myself not using certain moves when I'm fighting against someone who's fun to play against. I know there are certain styles I don't enjoy facing, like heavy camping, and so I tend to avoid using them myself because I want the other person to have fun, even when it's detrimental to the character I'm using, or my situation. In a match where I suddenly get cheesy or "cheap" to win, it feels like I didn't win because of skill.
Do you think playing for fun and limiting yourself (when it's a player with the same skill level) stunts competitive improvement? Or do you think that learning to win without certain tools is still helpful? When you play online, do you set out to have a fun match or do you enjoy winning through any means necessary?
