I was looking at some SSB4 ideas, and I came across a few threads that wanted DLC (Downloadable Content) in SSB4. This thread is where members can discuss DLC in SSB4 and ideas related to it. Here is my point of view for DLC in SSB4:

-Additional DLC Characters
I do not like the idea of additional characters for DLC. Imagine if you were online, and you saw a character (Kamek for example) and Kamek had completely different moves. You would not expect any of these moves and would most likely lost the fight. Also, if a DLC character was #1 on the tier list. Players who have the money to purchase that character would have an advantage over players who did not.

-Alternate DLC Costumes
I do like the idea of DLC costumes. These would be like a costume for Marth that looked like Roy or a costume for Maro that looked like Shadow Mario.

-Additional DLC Stages
This would work, but I'm not sure about online. There could be specific channels that players could join if they had those certain DLC stages. DLC stages would not affect local mode (maybe a "DLC Stages" tab)

That is my opinion on DLC in SSB4. However, I am completely fine without it.

Have you at least tried looking to see if a DLC thread exists? We don't exactly need duplicate threads here.

I think DLC would be good for the game. Including patches and fixes to bugs or game breaking stuff.

I like the idea of having additional characters. The argument of money is irrelevant. The argument of "Well I didn't know his moves, so I lost" is just stupid. If you actually are determined to be a competitive player, then you are constantly searching for ways to improve. This includes finding out if there are new DLC characters. Once you learn that there are new ones, you find out their moveset and what works best against them. I don't have to play with Kamek (or insert character here) in order to know how to beat that character. I can look up guides online. Regardless if you are playing a DLC character or an original character, the first time you play against any character, you will probably lose if that other player is better than you. Doesn't matter if the character is a DLC or not.

Costumes is a must for DLC.

Stages are as must as well.

I would also like to see new items, songs, assist trophies (achievements). Possibly different modes.

Everything online would have to be considered for the DLC. It wouldn't be fair for me to enjoy the DLC content that other people have paid for just by me joining their online games. So I think some type of division is a must here.

Non-cosmetic dlc is horrible and ruins fighters. (edit: splitting the player base is something that should be avoided at all costs. it ends at multiplats.)
Unless those dlc characters are guaranteed laughable garbage-tier like UMvC3's were.

That said, I play too much TF2 to not want to see some crazy costumes and accessories going on.

If they were to ever add new characters, I hope they sell figurines/trophies in stores. Always wanted Smash Bros trophies lined up in my room ever since they were featured in Melee. Wii U's gamepad has an NFC reader so we'd be able to unlock these characters in the game.

Do I want DLC? Hell yes, just so as long its handled as just an afterthought and not how most companies would handle their DLC. I mean just think about it, Day One DLC for Smash.

Roy will cost just $5.00 at launch! And when you pre-order Super Smash Bros 4 at Gamestop you get Mewtwo for the price of $64.99! Power to the Players!

I'm OK with DLC as long as Nintendo and Sakurai do it responsibly. I don't want them to have DLC be used as a cheap way to get money.

The way I think that DLC should be made for this game is leftover characters that they planned to put in but didn't, patches for fixing balance issues, and put in new stages. (both new stages and past stages)

Guys. Get your facts straight. Sakurai said there are no plans for DLC.

Actually he said currently. Sakurai has said he wants to get everything he can into the game first. But he said he isn't against the idea of DLC either. Plus this is all speculation. Te one with their facts wrong is you. :/

Like Skylanders? THAT would be a good idea... I'd love to see a Skull Kid Trophy in my desk!

*Imagines Dillon*

Wait, what if they decided to use the Eshop characters for the DLC? Mallow, Dillon, Tempo...

Cosmetic DLC would be ok I guess. But new characters? I think that'd be a bad idea. SSB has always been about earning the other characters, not going to buy them. The game will be expensive enough as it is. Getting near $100 in some places. Paying that and only getting half a game would be a real slap in the face.

I think Downloadable costumes like Tanooki Mario or PED Suit Samus would be welcome but as Sakurai said, I want them to make the best game they can first.

Tekken Tag 2 had about 6 DLC characters, and they were all free. I'm only bringing that up because it was also published by Namco.

I'm pretty sure all six of those characters were hybridized clones (so imagine a character that has half of Marth's moves, and half of Sheik's moves, as a random example), and they were characters that had been worked on, but not finished.

So if Brawl had DLC done in this style, we would've gotten Roy, Mewtwo, Dr. M, Dixie and Tetra as free DLC. None of them would necessarily have unique movesets, but they'd be different variations on those playstyles and it'd be characters we loved anyway. : >

So I'm totally for DLC if it's like that.

To be totally honest, though, I wouldn't have a problem with paid character DLC at all.

Never try Mortal Kombat 9 my friend, just don't do it.

I actually wouldn't mind DLC characters, it is really the only DLC worth money in my opinion.
