I started playing Ness last weekend and I watched some fights on youtube. I was wondering what is the importance of DJing? Why am I suppose to DJ instead only jumping once and doing an aerial?

It speeds up your game and help you combo other characters. You always have the choice to use DJC or short hop, but when you want to pop-up a fast faller and follow with a grab, you'll DJC a Uair instead of SHFFL'ing it. You can also spam some Bairs more effectively when DJC.

All you got to do, is press Y/X and follow with the stick... I find this method easier than the claw, and by using both the stick and a button, you allow yourself some time to move your hand on the Cstick and follow with an aerial attack (or whatever you feel like).

Logically, using your left hand to do your second jump allows your right hand to move on the attack button (or the cstick) faster...

That's the theory, and it is probably true for most people, but the fastest DJC's I've seen were linked on some thread by Ademisk and were done by rolling from x to y to a. I think xx is good enough to get the job done, as I can double jump back to the ground using it without much trouble. And the other thing is that if you can double tap x but not move to a fast enough for some reason, the z button is an ok alternative, as it doesn't require your thumb to do everything.

Yeah, it doesn't change the potential speed, it might take a little more twitch muscle to YY or XX, but I find it's much more certain. With Y-up or X-up I always **** up the timing, it's much more difficult to pull off that way. Plus, doing Y-up or X-up completely destroys your chance to perfectly DI the attack.

the fastest DjCs dont allow your attack to come out

I use YYA because it allows me more control of the speed (and this extras control may come for no reason other than i've practiced with YYA more than any other method)

just....do what wins^_^

...and Simna wins (mostly).

Theoretically, XXA or YYA are the same speed as Y^C Stick, but I agree that it is easier to do lower DjC's with
Y^C Stick. YYA can be that fast, and that's what I use.

Lol, if I pick up Peach or Yoshi, it takes a few tries to slow down my DJC enough for a nair to come out. Then I switch back to Ness because the DJC is far to slow and immobile for my liking.

Yeah, Ness' DJC is the best, end of story. GG ness players, u own. Hehe, i love trolling. Btw, i use XXA (with anyone who DJCs. It feels wierd to use Y to me, maybe just cuz i practice w/ X.)

You are so mean Sinma, but i love u (even though i dont even know you). I wish i could edit peoples posts, muahahahaha. Anyways, is it better to short hop fairs, or djc them, cuz SHing them seems more effective, and easier.

Get a limit break and use omnislash, but be sure to equip the phoenix materia on someone. I also suggest Knight of the round, as it does massive damage. Beware of his summon: Meteor.

Omnislash is great because it doesn't leave you vulnerable at all, because the other guys can't attack during your limit break animation.

SH is better for approaching someone on the ground, while DJC is better for approaching someone in the air, or when you need to pull it out close to someone or...a million other situations.

Hugglebunny, this is the first time I've ever seen you, but I officially hate you for that comment.

Yeah, seriously, Ness is a complex individual. He's not a one move kind of guy.

Also FF 6 is the best FF ever, hands down. 7 is like...3rd or 4th.

I'm absolutely horrified that I'm saying this, but.....I think we need to get back on topic! O_O.

What's better for baiting an enemy, a retreating SH bair or a retreating SH fair?

If they know how to play a ness, probably a bair, cuz they would know it has shorter range and it doesnt last as long. Then again, i dont play ness much so...

Yeah, but the bair is a frightening aspect, wrong timing deals bad things for an enemy, especially with a Ness quick enough to follow it up.

Fair, cuz it has teh sparkles and range. That way if they approach you are semi-protected....

Facing the other way and shielding and then when they approach you bair them. Tha'd be sexi.

And I was trying to say crystal chronicles.

oh. I ****ing love crystal chronicles!!!

bairs work just as good or better if you do it right.
bairs have crazy priority at the right time and distance.

it prioritizes over falcon's nair at JUST the right distance.
