(I'm not too sure if a thread like this has been made or if this thread is even worth being a thread and I apologize in advance.)

I just wanted to make a discussion thread for Sheik's fair. Information like how to properally use her fair and how fair really helps sheik be "sheik". I believe that this move should be elaborated on more and having a thread just for this Sheik's fair will help newcomers learn and understand the character. Lets get started with a question. What can Sheik do with her fair, also why is the move so good in the first place??

I've actually been thinking of starting a thread on Fair and explaining why it's so good and when/where to use it.

One of the reasons Sheik's fair is really good is because it's disjointed. This means the move's hitbox isn't part of the character's hurtbox.. an example would be Marth or Ike who are swords users. If they hit you with a fair, and you hit their swords, they won't get hit and you'll get hit instead.. because the sword isn't part of their hurtbox. This is the same with Sheik's fair, hitting the hitbox will result in you getting hit rather than Sheik. This makes Sheik's fair have good range and be relatively safe.

Sheik's Fair also does low damage, has 10 frames of landing lag which is nothing and it also autocancels, comes out frame 5, and sends you in a trajectory that's really good and has low knockback... essentially it's a perfect combo move. All of that is what makes Fair combo to itself over and over at low percents and then at higher percents it combos into bouncing fish etc.

It also means it's an amazing spacing tool thanks to all of that good stuff + the disjoint factor, making it safe on shield if spaced well. It can very easily be spaced well if you set your C stick to tilts. The reason for that is if you set it as smash attack, then you can't control your momentum in the air and using fair with the C stick will automatically shift your momentum forward, kinda mitigating your spacing and making it useless. It doesn't do that if it's set to tilts. I recently did this (like 2-3 weeks ago) and my Sheik's gameplay became a lot better because I could pressure shields so easily with fair. All you have to do is stand at a distance where your fair will connect but they won't be able to shield grab you or do anything out of shield because of fair's disjoint always winning against anything they throw... usually though, but it's not ALWAYS the case on all characters.

So all in all, I use fair in pretty much any scenario. As a combo tool (fthrow or fair > rising sh fair > fast fall > rinse and repeat until you can't do it anymore), as a spacing tool, to pressure shields (with c stick for extra microspacing), and to play her neutral/approach.

My inputs to fast fall fair are short hop > rising fair > fast fall.

Very well put together. I would ask what the disadvantages of fair are but I don't see any to be honest. Is it true that fair is unpunish-able on shield if spaced perfectly?

Some characters can probably punish it honestly, but it's relatively safe. I can think of one scenario that I get put in a lot against my friend which is diddy's fair which is also amazing and if well timed can be ours out of shield.
