So a friend (newb) was asking how to d-air to up-tilt with Kirby consistently without knocking his opponent away with the d-air, and I didn't really know what he was talking about. So after playing around in training mode trying to reproduce what he was explaining to me, I found out that when you z-cancel Kirby's d-air and f-air, your opponent doesn't get knocked back when you land, but if you don't z-cancel, he does get knocked back. I found out that he didn't know what z-canceling was.
Does anyone know why this is? Are there other moves where there's a difference between a z-cancel and no z-cancel? Could there be any strategic use to this?
