Difficulties with waveshine combos

1) Whenever I try to shine into an upsmash, I shine, wavedash, and then hit the c-stick up. For some strange reason, Fox then jumps in the air!
2) Whenever I try to waveshine, I can shine and then wavedash, but when I try to shine again, Fox does a side step instead!

How do I fix these?

1) you're air dodging too early
2) how's that? I asume you're executing the wavedash too early...

Do it on training mode and set the speed to 1/4 (or 1/2 if that's too slow for you) that should make you learn the timing and then aply it on real speed.

For both, you're holding the shield button down too long after wavedashing.
