Diddy Kong VS Toon Link Match-up

Hello guys!

I've been having problems with this matchup. I main Diddy Kong and for some reason a friend of mine (He is a good Toon Link player) wins almost everytime. He doesn't rush down always, he plays patiently with Toon Link throwing his Boomerang, bombs and arrows most of the match. I know I can perfect block all the items till I get close enough, but we always play online and is kinda hard to always do a perfect block cause of the input lag. I want to understand this match-up very well.

How should I approach him? What tools can I use to get in and attack?

Toon link is a pain, I also have a friend who mains Toon link, Monkey Flip Kick and go through arrows and boomerangs so its probably your best bet in terms of quick approach, it doesnt beat bomb though, so watch out for that.
usually you can flip over the top of arrows without needing to kick through them too so you also have the option of grabbing them out of flip.
Boomerang and bomb both take a while to pull so you can flip in kick them out of the animation and proceed to go ape on them.
We can also use bananas to gain some ground, it most of the time you'll get hit with an arrow or something after you throw it so you cant follow up immediately, but it breaks up the camping and gives you an opportunity to get a read on their getup and move in that way.
Another option is so full hop fastfall forward air, it also beats arrows and the rang, and can beat or trade with most of Toon links attacks.

Toonlink can also gimp us fairly easily off stage with bombs and there's not much we can do about it except try to recover under the stage and slide up it.
Fortunately Toonlink is also easy to gimp, we can cover space above the stage with peanuts and force him to recover low,at this point you can either run off and down air him or peel a banana so that it falls off and covers the space under the ledge.
If the banana hits you can run off and back air for a stage spike during the start of of TLs up B or just down air since his upB doesnt have a hitbox directly above him.

Thank you so much for replying and for the tips. I will keep those things in mind. Toon link is a pain. >.< What I most dislike is the bombs and his hitbox in general. Sometimes it goes crazy. The sword doesn't even touch you and you still get hit. lol...

If you still have more tips let me know. I want to learn this match-up.

This is by far one of the toughest MU for Diddy because Tink can wall us with his boomerang and bombs, you need to be very patient and wait for a mistake and punish him.

Thank you Edd! Now that Diddy has been nerfed, It's more difficult to knock him out the stage. I still main diddy, thou.
