Did Sakurai actually say...

Everybody keeps saying that Sakurai claimed Brawl would have "More characters than you can imagine" or something along those lines. I hear a lot of "It's true, he said that" and also lots of "that is a rumor." It's driving me insane. Can anybody give solid proof of this quote?
I would appreciate it immensely.

It could, however, be refering to bosses and AT's as well, it didn't say anything about playable.

there's a thread in this section of the boards that links to an article where he says that.

However, the site is a Korean translation of a Famitsu (japanese magazine). The article this translation talks about has not yet been seen, and it's still a rumor. We don't know if it's all fake or what.

That is a good, but depressing, point. I didn't even think about the whole SSE ordeal... he may have been referring to that. I would be highly disappointed if that was all he meant.
