Did P:M Influence Smash 4?

There isn't really a point to this thread, but I thought it would be a nice discussion--I'm sure I'm not the only one that has noticed striking similarities in a few character changes in Smash 3DS. DK's dash attack comes to mind, as well as a few others I can't remember off the top of my head. So has anyone else noticed any similarities, and/or do you think they are just a coincidence?

-Link's dash attack=PM Toon Link's f-smash
-Charizard's u-throw, seismic toss
-Charizard's f-air

These are some sensible changes within the context of these characters. However, I'm sure the SSB4DT has seen Project M, so it's likely PM had at least some influence on Smash 4.

As someone has said in a thread similar to this one, Donkey Kong's dash roll attack is questionable. It's very possible that the people making Smash 4 looked at Diddy and said "Why doesn't Donkey Kong have is roll as his dash attack?"
And Charizard's F-air is almost exactly the same as M2's.

DK's dash attack is from the Donkey Kong Country games. The reason for most if not all similarities is simply due to both teams taking inspiration from the same source, that being existing Nintendo games.

everyone knows this already, the thing is it took them 4 games to do so..."coincidentally" after PM got some big exposure. it's not that it matters or anything, but for that reason alone, i don't blame all the skepticism

If you look at all the differences that there are between the games instead of like the 4 or 5 things that are similar you realize that it is highly unlikely Smash 4 was influenced by P:M.

I highly doubt sakurai is downloading a mod to a game he made and going "oh, this is a good idea!" lol. The changes that were made similarly were similar because of common sense.

ex.
-DK dash attack, a roll that is in the games... not even the same animation
-Charizard's own slot, people liked charizard the most. If this was really influenced why isnt squirtle and ivy their own slots
-Charizard seismic toss, obvious reasons, not even same animation
-Ike's blue flames, obvious reasons

... thats all I literally can think of, there are so many more differences to just only focus on the few similarities lol

Its either that, or people dont realize what was in Brawl to begin with which transfered over to 4 because its a sequel. Seriously, Ive heard too many people say that Ganon's side-b in smash 4 is from PM lol.

Anyone who thinks smash 4 was influenced by it probably only thinks so because PM came first.

you say 'it took them 4 games to do so' as if the existing dash attack didn't have it's own reason for being in there =/

I doubt it. Smash seems to be going in its own direction in general, although they do seem to be paying more attention to the competitive crowd without completely selling out what they want to do.

I never claimed that they stole any content, or that they definitely copied from P:M, I was just pointing out some similarities. Another one that comes to mind is one of Zero Suit Samus' alternate side specials, the whip that knocks enemies toward you just like it does in P:M. I know it's dangerous to just say that they were thinking about it just because it came first, but IMHO there are just a few too many similar moves to completely disregard it.

you say 'too many'

but what you mean is 'very little that are from PM but not any other smash games let alone other nintendo games where the character already has the move'

each character has what, 24ish moves.
number of characters is 40 something.

so 960 attacks. forgetting other movement animations.

and you're looking at....4-6 that 'came from PM' (while ignoring that they could be from any other source, or a coincidence altogether)

Whether it did or didn't doesn't matter a damn bit.
Stop comparing things, that achieves nothing but headaches for those who know better by now.
Please.

Yoshi is now able to jump out of shield in Smash 4 though. Sakurai be taking notes lol!

...Or he just thought it might be a good idea all on his own. We will never know.

I've noticed that some palette swaps in P:M look eerily similar to some in Sm4sh. Dr. Mario's red costume, Lucario's green costume, Peach's Fire costume, and Yoshi's purple and black costumes come to mind, just to name a few. Things that make you go hmm...
