We're not sure what the space is for - it's possibly from compression, possibly something else? Nobody knows.

I wouldn't attach myself to this, though. Could be anything, probably nothing, maybe possibly likely not really kinda.

I laughed a little too hard at this.
Anyway, that extra space probably isn't for DLC because I'm pretty sure on the 3DS DLC always downloads onto your SD card, even if you're playing with a cartridge.
