Hi, simple question. I can't DI very well without accidentally using my jump. Tips?

It's best to ask simple questions like this in the official FAQ / QnA thread instead of starting a whole new thread for it. There a lot more veterans and members watching that thread, faster more accurate answers.

For DI I have no clue why you'd have jumping issues. You use the controls stick during and after you've been hit, you'll be in hitlag and histun so you shouldn't be able to do anything let alone jump. If you meant SDI/aSDI, that's a bit different.

You can buffer jump out of tumble, so if you input upwards DI while in tumble in anticipation of another hit you can end up jumping by accident (with tap jump). See Kadano's video explaining it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03qCJ_Ikbho

If you're doing this on the ground, then you're just inputting your DI too early. If you're in an actionable state (standing, falling, etc.) where your inputs could result in something besides DI (e.g. if you try to DI away while standing you end up dashing backwards) then you should wait until immediately after you're hit to input DI. If you're in a non-actionable state (such as lag from a whiffed attack), then there's no problem with preemptively DIing since your input won't cause any unintended actions (just DI).
