This thread is for discussion about the Devil May Cry series.
Developer: CAPCOM
Genre: Extreme Hack n' Slash
Lets get an overview of the four games first:
Devil May Cry (2001)
Platform: PS2
The first game of the series, you are first introduced to Dante and Trish, the main characters. I haven't played the game myself, but you can get more info about this on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_May_Cry
Devil May Cry 2 (2003)
Platform: PS2
The second game of the series, but last game chronologically, this game was met with poor reviews. In this installment, you are introduced to Lucia and a much more mature, silent Dante.
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening/Special Edition
Platforms: PS2 and PC
The third game of the series, this game serves as a prequel to all the other games and introduces Dante's twin brother, Vergil, in his non-corrupted form. This DMC brought the series back to life after the failure of DMC2. There was also a Special Edition released for PC and rereleased for PS2 to fix up the extreme difficulty of the original. The SE also allowed the player to play as Vergil.
Waltz's rating: 9/10
There were some faults with this game, such as the fixed-camera angles which can be extremely frustrating at times. There are also some issues with the targeting system, which seems to only focus on those closest to you or directly in front. The game also becomes extremely repetitive, forcing you backtrack to a room as much as 3 times throughout the story.
Devil May Cry 4
Platforms: PS3, XBOX 360, PC
This is the fourth game of the series, taking place between 1 and 2 chronologically. A completely new character, Nero, is introduced as the main protagonist, replacing Dante for the bulk of the story. A new combative tactic also compliments Nero: the Devil Buster. With the arm, enemies can be snatched from afar and flung, slammed or torn apart.
Waltz's rating 8.5/10
My main problem with this game is how they tacked on Dante to this game. All the enemies in this game were designed with Nero's Devil Buster in mind. But when Dante has to fight the same enemies, it becomes a real hassle because of the lack of the arm.
