Teaser trailer can also be seen there.
Looks set to be a prequel to the original Deus Ex, where instead of being a nano-aug, you'll play a mech-aug, which could have some interesting repercussions. PC Gamer (UK) had a name for the embryo shown in the teaser, believed to be the player, but I forgot what it was. I think it was something french/gay sounding. Given the Ballot box originally said 2027, and that the original Deus Ex took place in 2052, it is estimated that because the embryo will be the player, then the game will take place around 2040. Perhaps the most shocking information is that the creative forces behind Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War, Warren Spector and Harvey Smith, are not attached to the project.
It has been confirmed that the game will be developed using the Crystal Dynamics Engine, which was originally used for the games Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend and Project: Snowblind; the latter intended as a "tactical" version of the original Deus Ex initially titled Deus Ex: Clan Wars. - Yeah, took that from Wiki, couldnt be bothered retyping. Anyone got anything to say about the engine involved?
Yes, it probably is a bit early for this, with little info going to be released any time soon, but who who has played the original does not love Deus Ex?
UPDATE 19/10/08
I have news. I'm taking it straight from PC Gamer (UK) magazine just so you know.
You play Adam Jensen, and you're all human. For now. DE3 development team contains nobody from the original Deus Ex, but Invisible War did and look where that got them. DE's writer Sheldon Pacotti has been enlisted as a story consultant however.
There's a slight change to the system. If you remember the beginning of Deus Ex you'll remember how bad of a shot J.C. Denton was. In DE3 if you're good at shooting you're good at shooting, the game won't make you bad because your stats are low.
There are no nano augmentations here. Your augmentations are full blown bodypart replacements. You start 'pure' but during the plot you're forced to augment yourself.
"But Gunther and Anna were some seriously ugly mother****ers!"
Don't worry shallow person, they've been visually redesigned to be closer to modern prosthetics: smooth skin-tone plastic plates cladding a steel endoskeleton.
These replace augs and skills from original Deus Ex apparently, and they can also take the form of special combat moves. When these are used the camera pulls back to show you doing it, which I don't like the sound of personally. I'd rather out of body experiences were left to the cutscenes. It will also use 3rd person for a new cover system (Rainbow Six Vegas is mentioned here but I've never played it so I don't know what it means). "You will be used in combat for the tactical aspect, but also when you're stealthy, because the camera allows you to see more of what the enemies are doing" - Jean-Francois Dugas.
The concept art and screenshots also show a very stylised vision of the future. So more DX2 than Deus Ex, which looked more 'real world'.
Levels will be large and hub-based. Apparently some will take place- and brace yourself for this- during the day. The tone will still be dark and brooding they just want to establish some variety.
I'll hunt out some screenshots and concept art, there's one of a man who looks like how I would imagine a young Gunther, the man in this screenshot has a 3-barrelled gun built into his wrist.
EDIT: There's nothing up from the looks of things but this Concept Art image matches some of the screenshots http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/april08/dx3.JPG
Can people who have played Deus Ex: Invisible War (preferably on PC) tell me what they thought, was it really a bad game? Or was it a good game that perhaps had some difficulty living up to what is perhaps the greatest game of all time?
Also the current release date sits at 2010.
