So one thing I've noticed in this game is that each character, except for Mega Man, has a very modern design. Especially Samus (Other M), Pit (Uprising), Pikachu (Modern Pokemon). While other characters' designs are more accurate to their original game designs. Mario, Bowser, Kirby.

It seems to be more up to date and more faithful than any previous Smash game. So what other characters do you think will get updates and how will they look?

I think Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and Wario will all follow in Mario and Bowser's footsteps and look more like we've come to expect Mario characters to look. Zelda and Ganondorf will probably keep their TP designs, like Link, but with an updated color pallet. Zero Suit Samus will probably be the Other M version to match regular Samus.

I always liked how Smash Bros. (particularly Melee) had a unique interpretation on the classic characters. Bowser and Peach in specific have never looked as good as they do in Melee (I know you disagree with the Bowser statement, but you're wrong on this subjective matter I'm afraid). Characters like Samus suffer because of this. I do appreciate their work on Link though. He could be the most well designed character in the franchise's history, and the best design for Link period, imo.

Just figured I'd mention that Smash 4 Link model looks like it draws inspiration from both TP and SS.

Meh. I really don't see where people are getting that Link's design draws from SS. People say that the colors come from SS, but really, the colors come from saturating the TP design. The fact that SS had more saturated colors is a coincidence. Every detail of the design (leather design on gauntlet, not-baggy-pants, hairstyle, shield, boots, specific cuts of the tunic, etc) is from the TP design. The only difference is the saturation.

Yeah, agreed.
Though I'm particularly interested in seeing Ganondorf's design. I wonder how he'll look with the brighter HD-ified colors.

Well I don't imagine it'll be much different in terms of color saturation. Ganondorf has never had vibrant colors, whereas many of the characters who were desaturated in Brawl for the sake of realism are simply getting their color back. Seeing how Link is still TP Link, Ganondorf would probably be from TP as well.

I mean, I'm not totally worried bout it. Don't get me wrong.

But the way you put it makes more sense. I always just thought everyone got brighter but I forgot that it only seems that way to me because of the desaturation in Brawl.

I'm interested in seeing how they're gonna make Ganondorf look if they choose to go with the TP design (which I hope they do,) he isn't exactly colorful, I hope they don't make him look like a clown.

I also hope they don't go overboard with C. Falcon's colors, a bright baby blue suit would make me cry.

They'll probably make :falcon:'s reds brighter and his blues darker for contrast to allow for more happy HD color love.

EDIT: Disregard this post, I have no idea what I'm trying to say here.

... I'm a bit amused by people worrying about characters being TOO saturated. I hope everyone realizes that despite being more vibrant the Brawl, most of the characters STILL aren't as saturated as their canonical counterparts. For instance, Mario is still more dull than "real" Mario, if I may call him that. Nobody is going to be more saturated than they have historically been in past games.

lol I hope you know I said that in a joking manner. You can't be "wrong" on a subjective issue :p

I noticed that Pikachu is surprisingly more saturated than the rest. It works I guess.

Bowser looks amazing this time around. He has more of the curmudgeony brute personality that shines through in the Mario RPGs, whereas in Brawl he looked like some kind of hunched, feral beast.

Link's design is somewhat disappointing to me. I like the overall brighter look of this game, but his face is just... eh. I wonder if Zelda will still look like she does in Brawl. I was really hoping for her Skyward look. And what the hell will happen to Sheik?
