Smash 3DS Demo code not working?

Hey guys,

So I got my codes from Club Nintendo, but one of them was "already redeemed" when my friend tried to enter it. Has this happened with anyone else, or is this just a weird one-off thing?

I suppose it is theoretically possible that someone randomly lucked out and guessed, but I'm not sure. Could be bad luck, could have been a typing error on his part.

This happened to the code that I had. I won it from someone. All of the other contestants got their codes working, but when I tried to trade mine, the person (or people. I tried more people after the first, in case the region was wrong when he said it didn't work, but nope) I traded with claimed it didn't work.
