You're trying too hard.

...plus, it's like... five in the morning... at least, in this tiny corner of the world.

Almost 7 in the morning where I'm at.

In regards to L-Canceling, I don't have anything against it, but I can see why people find it frustrating too. In the end, once you learn it, there's pretty much no reason not to use it ever anyway. You're going to L-Cancel no matter what. It does rather pointless in that aspect.

For me, though, the hardest thing about L-Canceling isn't doing it. That's a piece of cake. It's trying to teach my friends how to do it when I'm trying to get them more into P:M. They just can't seem to process it for some reason.

And yet my 9 year old niece, soon to be 10 on the day 3.0 comes out, has no problem doing it or wavedashing at all...I'm beginning to question the intelligence of my friends. >_>'

I mean, in all honesty, I don't disagree with you. L-cancelling is kinda dumb. It's not really "press a button to be rewarded with speed," it's more like "fail to press a button to be punished with a lack of speed," in a very real sense. In a game where, for a lot of characters, speed = fun, that's not particularly good design. All it does is increase the skill gap in a game that already has quite a large one.

It's here to stay, though, whether we like it or not.

You know, I wrote out a whole rant of why you shouldn't get rid of L-Cancelling, but I felt it was just rambling so I didn't post it.

Instead, consider L-Cancelling as a very integral part of the game. Getting rid of it, or making it automatic would literally change this game far too much.

Probably not for the better of the game either, other than making it more accessible to casuals.

If you can't lcancel, learn to play Peach. She doesn't need to focus on lcanceling as much as other characters.
