A lot of people credit top players for their combos and fundamentals but what is less talked about is defensive options. Here are a few defensive techniques let me know if I'm missing anything.
DI: The most common defensive technique, I feel like mastering this is all about reaction speed.
SDI: This has even tighter timing but is a great tool for getting out of combos.
Shield tilting: This is used to prevent getting shield poked. Its often difficult to use bcuz if the controller is tilted too much then the player will dodge instead.
Dodges and Rolls: These are good but they can be easily punished if read or even by reaction.
