Decided my mains...now how do I use them competitively?

Hey, I'm ray, and I've been on smshboards for a few months. Haven't been on in a while though. Anyway, I've had smash 3DS ever since launch day and have been trying to master two characters as my mains: Villager, and Ness. I've played with these characters for months and I want to take it up a notch in terms of technique and mastery. I'm not a noob, I've actually been able to take out a Diddy and Fox, both their two stocks vs. my one stock villager, and WIN. This...was a sign. What can I do to improve these characters and were can I learn to do so. As always, thank you!

I don't use Ness much, but I partly main Villager. For basic goals, I'd recommend checking their character forums first. Go to the movesets and matchup subforums and do some research. The video forum could be your friend too, in case you see a tech you want to try and do. For Villager, I personally do a zone game. I try and approach with frequent Lloid rockets and short hop nairs. From there, I'm having a hard time describing how I play villager. Like I said, the character forums are your friend for main advice.
