-Check in starts 1 hour before the tournament

-If the player limit has been reached, players who have have not checked in will be removed from the tournament to make room for other players

-Player removal will occur twice during the 1 hour check in, first after 30 minutes into check in and second in the last 5 minutes before the tournament begins

-Players must set their friend code in their name on Challonge by clicking the "Your Settings" tab and entering their 12 digit friend code next to their name

-All communication will be in a chat room like http://www.e-chat.co/ or the Discussion tab on Challonge

-Loser's Choice Stages: Battlefield, Final Destination, Arena Ferox, Tomodachi Life, Yoshi's Island, Reset Bomb Forest or any Omega Stage

What players must do each round:

-Players must announce the stage they don't want to play before the first match, their Loser's Choice Stages, Winner's character selections and any issues they are having in the discussion tab

-Players must add their opponent's Friend Code into their Friend List so they can play

-Either player may host the set by Create Room in Online >>> With Friends and the other must join their room

-Each player chooses a stage they don't want to play at the beginning of their set and they announce that stage in the discussion tab

-The remaining stage is what the players must play for their first match

-Both players must select the same stage during Stage Selection

-If a match goes into sudden death, the players must finish sudden death to determine the winner

-The Loser of a match chooses and announces the next stage from the Loser's Choice Stages

-The Winner of a match announces the character they will be using in the next match after the stage is announced

-Once the set is complete players must report their scores on the bracket by clicking the question mark symbol next to their name and filling in the necessary information

-If anything in a match doesn't follow the rules listed above, it's each player's responsibility to exit from the match and communicate what is wrong in the discussion tab to their opponent

-If both players choose to play out matches that do not follow the rules, they will have to accept the result of their set so the tournament can continue without a delay

-Player's matches will result in a tie if neither player reports their score in the allowed time and if there are issues of cheating or failing to finish the set

-If an opponent doesn't communicate during the first 10 minutes of a round, players may count that round as a win for themselves

"I did want to ask you guys what you thought of http://www.smashladder.com by the way. I've been considering using it for future tournaments, but I really don't want to force you dudes to make another account for another website just to play."

I think it would be great if you organised your tournaments there, because stage picking and banning would be easier, and they also provide a chat room if you set your tournament up on the website.

But saying that if you are planning in future to use smashladder.com to organise tournaments you should have similar rules to them as well.

Example Arena Ferox should not be a neutral stage.

I think you should revise your stages to:

Neutral: Final Destination, Battlefield, Yoshi Island

Losers Counterpicks: Final Destination, Battlefield, Yoshi Island, Arena Ferox, Prism Tower. (You can add Reset Bomb Forest / Tomodachi Life / Brinstar to it as well, but they are not included in smashladder.com)

They also use Daves stupid rules over there (cannot pick a stage you already won on), and also have a winners ban stage, before losers can counter pick.

See you on the 18th!

I'm in!

Just to clear it up for anyone that might be confused, this tournament starts on December 18th, at 4PM Pacific time, correct?

And I also think Yoshi's Island would be a better choice for a third starter than Arena Ferox, but that's just my opinion.

I do know that people consider Yoshi's island to be a neutral stage, but why? The bend in the bottom half and the platforms in that pop up create bad situations for a lot of characters. Arena Ferox at worst gives an advantage to characters with angled projectiles during some forms and plays darn near exactly like Final Destination half of the time.

I'd appreciate some sound reasoning as to why Yoshi's Island is considered neutral and why Arena Feox is not. I know that people normally play that way, but I don't see a good reason behind it. Yoshi's Island screws over recovering at worst and Arena Ferox gives an advantage to angled projectile users half the time, while the other half of the time it plays like Final Destination.

Sorry for the l late reply I haven't been getting notifications on my threads for some reason.

Anyway, the best way to know your local time is to check what it says on Challonge. It'll translate the time for you when you're logged in, if you set your time zone in your settings. I'm in JST so it's naturally set to that there. Sorry about that by the way. Hope to see you in the tourney!

Sorry dude. Sadly Smashboards doesn't have a directory for online tournaments quite like Tournament Listings. If it did, it would be easier to keep track of this. Apparently I'm not allowed to post this there considering they keep moving my threads.
