(Debunked, Ignore)No Tourneys in my area?

So I live in Puerto Rico where, at least I assume, the Competitive Smash community isn't very large> Whenever I go to the online tournament locators there are none, and I don't hear about any tournaments from word of mouth from my friends who also play the game competitively. My only tourney experience was a tournament hosted by the computer teacher in the school, but I didn't event compete because I had never played Sm4sh. So basically, what should I do? Should me and my friends try to organize tournaments ourselves or is there another alternative?


TL;DR version: No tourneys where I live, what do I do?
