Dear Xbox Fans: You Deserve Better

If you were to ask me to stick with one family of consoles for the rest of my life, I would pick Nintendo. Fortunately, I don't live in such a world, meaning I can enjoy my Xbox too. I've never seen myself as an Xbox fan, and that's because of the only game I play on the console:
the Forza series, a console exclusive.
Had I never played Forza Motorsport 3 on my older brother's Xbox 360, I never would have purchased the XBONE (and the X/S). Even though I don't see myself as an Xbox fan, I still believe the fans deserve better. What do I mean by this? I'm talking about Phil Spencer (head of Xbox) and his hatred of exclusives.
Phil doesn't understand the point of exclusives. Consoles cost money to make, and "the big three" actually lose money by developing them. Exclusives are meant to give people a reason to buy a console, helping the company make a profit after losing money. They take one step back to take two steps forward. Phil, on the other hand, wants to make games for all consoles while making his own consoles at the same time. If that's the case, why should people get an Xbox if you can get their games anywhere?
If you ask me, Xbox should go the Sega route and become a 3rd party developer, or actually make their games exclusive to their consoles. You can't do both.
Now I want to see Master Chief punching Phil in the face 😅

Also, if you came here to make fun of Xbox and it's fans, just go away. That's not the point of this thread.

You know, if Microsoft became a third-party publisher, that would have both positive and negative connotations.

On the bright side, it would be more likely to see rereleases of older games, especially with the newfound freedom of non-exclusivity. Furthermore, on a personal note, I can see Crash and Spyro being the most likely multiplats, while Banjo and Conker could return to Nintendo hardware.

On the downside, while it would leave room for a third major console manufacturer in play, the far more likely result is a Nintendo VS Sony console war, only with them as the only competitors on the market. Say what you will about the previous console generations and how hardware like the Atari Jaguar or the Sega Saturn, or even the Apple Bandai Pippin, didn't go far, but at least there were options besides the first and second place winners.

Either way, it would be the biggest news Microsoft would ever announce in the gaming sphere.

Which is why it'll likely get announced the day after a Geoff Keighley event ends.
