Dealing with Dittos

(I hope I'm posting this in the right place)

Lately, my practice partner has been playing nothing but ditto matches on me. Every time I pick up a new character, he practices a bunch with it (the console is his) that way he is on my level, and then he does nothing but ditto match me for our whole practice session. Any advice?

Pick Little Mac and have fun playing dittos where you die at 20% :4wiremac::joyful::4littlemac:

I hate mirror matches, but they're the only true mathmatical 50:50 matchup you'll ever get in any game.

Alot of people think it's a contest to see who can use the character better. But in most cases, it's honestly just a contest of who knows how to fight the character better.

Sorry but your partner sounds like an ass.

Read a bunch about your character and how to counter it. He's probably playing using the general knowledge of the character, basic combos and generic playstyle. you should go the extra step and learn what could be done to stop it.

Learn every character slowly and play dittos with your friend until you understand each matchup. In tournament, ditto every single player and whip them with their own character. Everyone will hate you.

If he is picking the same characters as you, you have an opportunity to learn about many characters together and get all sorts of matchups. You can always ask him nicely if he could play someone else, or ask him if it's ok if you switch and he stays that character. The more characters you both play, the more you'll understand about each other. The more you're going to learn about a specific character, their strengths and their weaknesses.

But if you switch to someone else and he switches immediately, and if he is refusing to play a different character than you for the sake of annoying you, even after explaining that you want to give other matches a try, then in that case:
Your partner sounds like an ***.

Yet if you win a lot of the time, the satisfaction is sooooo good... (i've experienced it.)

There is one solution, if you keep trying a character and he picks the same, select random. Different character each time, and there is a very small chance to even be the same character anyways.
