DC++ help

This has never happened to me before.

my DC++ randomly started to make my computer run like REALLY slowly. i'm not downloading anything, no one is uploading from me, it is simply the program. i start up the program and my computer starts lagging like no other. Is there any solution to this problem that wouldnt require me rebooting my computer?
