I don't know if this has been posted here (searched for similar titles but no matches)

I noticed that if you do a dash attack and push the A button within a few frames of the dash animation your character will Fsmash instead. Similarly, if you jump and up air within the first few frames of the jumping animation (and even after slightly lifting up with certain characters) your character will do an up smash instead. This usually punishes me in FG and it happens even vs CPUs meaning that this isn't a delay issue. Does anyone know if this is an intended change? Will this change be included in the Wii u version?

They made DACUSing more difficult to pull off, so instead of just dashing and using an up smash, you have to either keep tap jump on and do it normally, or up smash by pressing A + X if you have tap jump disabled.

Um... that is how the game works and how it has always been... An F-smash is when you quickly move your stick to the side and press A. When you move your stick to the side very quickly you dash. They give you a small window from when you smash your stick to press the attack button to be considered a smash attack.

Regarding up smashes, it's the same thing. There's a small window from when you jump (and not have left the ground) to when you press attack which will trigger a smash attack input.

There is a technique for instant dash attacks, which involves you doing a dash, and return the stick to neutral position, then if you press attack, you will not f-smash. To perform instant up airs, you have to get the timing down, usually once you've completely left the ground then the game will not trigger the up smash. Or you can try to not tilt the stick all the way up. The C-stick will help you with that one.

That's a regular dashing up-smash, when you DACUS your character should slide a little bit instead of just stopping in place. DACUS is not possible anymore.

I didn't know there was a difference. Thank you for pointing this out to me.
