Dash Attack in Place?

So, yesterday, I was playing training mode with Bowser Jr. against a Mr. Game and Watch on the Pictochat 2 stage in its Final Destination form of course. I remember after a while, I pressed A and all of the sudden I was doing Bowser Jr.'s dash attack.... but I wasn't moving! I was just doing it in place. At first, I thought that my eyes were playing tricks on me, and shrugged it off. But today, I was playing as Wii Fit Trainer on Final Destination in training mode again, and I did it again!!! I'm not sure if I'm just going crazy or what, but I think I'm onto something here!! Does anybody have any similar experience?
