I've finished the game three times now, in my last two playthroughs I've killed all of the bosses and have just had a blast. This game is just sooooo, sooooo good. It's insane. I wanna play my character as a mage with **** loads of armor, a catalyst and some weird glove I can punch people with? Dark Souls just goes: Sure! Remember to upgrade that ****!

Has anyone else here been so impressed by this game? or perhaps the opposite?

If not enjoying it for the gameplay, one must marvel at the world, the lore, the characters, the bosses... there's so much depth and character to everything in the game. There's a reason for everything. Including that broken controller... Nevertheless, I have to agree that it's one of the best games out there.

I played this game because my dear, wonderful friend told me thus:

My friend said:
It's like the developers created this rich, vibrant world full of beautiful myths and fantastic stories.

And they tell you none of it.
As an aspiring writer and literary enthusiast, this duly piqued my curiosity.

So I picked it up in my local GameStop on the way home from college that day.

And I fell in love with it instantly.

It was, for a while, legit my favourite thing ever.

Dark Souls is indeed amazing, OP, and it's still as amazing as it ever was. That's the true hallmark of a great game: it never gets old and it will always be fan-bloody-tastic.

I got this game when it was free on 360 and yeah, I highly enjoyed it. I really loved the different and many types of environments. From Anor Londo to the catacombs. Each area felt so different then the other. Definitely one of my favorite things about the game.

Another thing I loved was the bosses. they offer a great challenge where you actually have to come up with a plan and use tactics.

Need to finish the DLC and maybe do some more playthroughs. Then I can get the second one on next gen.

Actually not a fan of Dark Souls. Bloodborne looks much more interesting of a setting.

I've always played with a full magic build on my first characters in both Dark Souls.
Sue me.

Played about an hour of Bloodborne, and I like it already. It feels so much better to play than Dark Souls. Dark Souls felt heavy and clunky, while Bloodborne feels swift and nimble, which I am pretty sure was intentional in terms of the design of both games.

Would you guys say Dark Souls 2 is not worth picking up? Or is it good but just not as good a the first one?

It's worth picking up~

Although, if you want more from II, you should wait for the upcoming Scholars of the First Sin updated re-release that includes all 3 DLCs along with new content.

I got Dark Souls 2 when it first came out, played it for 3 days straight, and dropped it. Still haven't beaten it :( I absolutely love the series though

It is still very much a good game. The early game is much worse than Dark Souls 1, but it picks up. Your first run through will be plenty of fun, plus the dlc is some of the best Souls content ever. I recommend getting the new Scholar of the First Sin version.

Plus NG+ is super interesting.

Oh hell yes! I put so many hours into Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1 + 2 its enough to make my head spin! I usually rock a strength build and my second character be straight magic. I enjoy the Soul Series so much.

I got to Anor Londo before I moved and I haven't played since I got my internet set up, I'm kinda ashamed of myself... While I'm here, is the Claymore as good as I think it is?

Yeah, it can easily carry you to the endgame if you go for a quality build. Thunder Claymore is good as well.

Dark Souls is up there in my top 3 favourite games of all time, joined by The Witcher 2 and Ocarina of Time. I finished it around maybe 6 times, spent well over 300 hours on it, and still not bored of the game. I didn't get to play the DLC yet, but definitely will in my next playthrough... if only I could actually drop Sm4sh so I could play other games lol. Only playing games on my laptop when I'm bored of playing sm4sh and don't have anything else to do.

The exploration in Dark Souls is just so good. It gives you the handheld Castlevania taste in that regard where it gives you the freedom to go anywhere you want, while all the areas are beautifully linked together. All the boss fights were literally epic and they all had beautiful backstories behind them, some which literally make you cry lmao.

People seem to hate the trial & error aspect of it the most where you try to clear an area to progress, die by something stupid, and then have to do it all again, and describe it as tedious, but I actually enjoy it and feel like its what the game is about: exploration & trial-and-error-based gameplay.

I have too many hours in this franchise. Then again, the legend never dies.

Sadly not gonna be getting bloodborne, because I don't have any plans on getting a ps4.

Rattle me bones. Here come the Wheel Skeletons on your first playthrough! Dark Souls is up there definitely. It brought me wonderful experiences of adventuring and conquering, plus a new love for the Sun.
I'm pretty sure the scariest part of the game is the invisible crystal bridges in Seathe's Library/Domain. Or...Skeleton Dogs.
