Not really. The Dark costumes are probably just there for the show.

Actually, I think the dark costumes might play a role in SSE.

I figure that, somehow, Pit, the captured princess, & Fox (& Possibly Link) would get turned evil by the main villain and you have to fight them.

I'd be saying yes, what with Dark Zelda and the statement "What will happen to the princess you don't save" with the Petey fight.
