D1 restored my faith in Smash 4.

I've been pretty critical of the new Smash so far. I've decided I'm not going to concentrate on the things I don't like anymore and instead find things I do like. There are actually a lot of cool tech in this game.

No one likes negativity and I wouldn't like people bashing Melee. So I decided to find stuff I really liked. Dark Peach found awesome ways to auto cancel with Peach that are really hard to pull off. D1 found a way to dash-shield pivot-dash-shield into a sort-of dash dance. Not like the real thing but it will have utility.

I don't know how much I will play it in tournaments, but I have Melee for tournaments. All in all I loved watching D1 play. It gave me reason to be glad I pre-ordered it.

There's plenty of new tech and new playstyles. The game also moves pretty fast for most characters, and while the tech doesn't lead to some lofty skill ceiling, it still adds some technical depth for those who want it. Plus the roster is pretty great. There's definitely a lot to like, and as you point out, everyone's more than welcome to lean toward their preferred version of the game for competition.

I was playing the demo, and realized that you could tech nearly every move in the game. My friend meteor smashed me with Mario's fair and I teched it. Funny thing, I had 108% before the attack, was on the ground, and he short hop fair'd. I feel as though this game is going to be a very fun game to watch competitively.

Blast zones really do seem like an issue. 150%+ is the norm now. It definitely is making 2 stocks 5 mins sound like the best option at the moment.

When I read the title I thought you meant Diablo 1 and I was wracking my brain as to how they were related.

The game looks very impressive so far and I think once people start figuring out more things and Wii U drops with the GC controller I think its looking like a very viable competitive game in the future with a great 3DS extension for in between tournies and labbing with online friends.

Honestly, this is the only issue I believe should be fixed. Anything else is simply icing on the cake.

I feel like I'm one of the few people who likes that it's harder to K.O. in Sm4sh. Although it means that it's more forgiving to less defensive players, it also means you need to have a much better offense, especially now that you can't edge-hog.
