D-airs with C-stick instead do n-airs? (Is it just me?)

So, I've noticed when playing online For Glory and even sometimes offline during a local match, doing a d-air with the c-stick will sometimes result in a neutral air. It's not just d-air's specifically, I can be on the stage and end up doing jabs instead of down smashes. It can get annoying when you want to do MegaMan's d-air off stage but instead end up shooting lemons. Has anyone else had this happen to them and possibly know why?

That's if you have it set to Tilts.

Do you have your C stick set to tilts?
I have it set to Smash Attacks and I some times get neutral A when I want something like a forward air or whatever
No, I use my c-sticks for smash attacks also

I've had it happen to me a few times, it happens to me when my opponent has a very poor connection

Yes, I believe this is the case. The C stick is just a quicker way to input Control Stick+A. So sometimes it seems to miss the input of the control stick part when there is button lag.

I tested it with my c stick set to smashes both online and offline, intentionally pushing the C stick very diagonally. I still get a smash or aerial, it might not be the one I was going for, but it doesn't input a jab or Nair. Only when playing online with a poor connection to my opponent does this happen.
