Cutting Out Images On Gimp Question

I use GIMP and I use the Rubber/Eraser Tool to cut out images but they never turn out perfect.

Is there an easier way to perfectly cut out images on gimp. I need some techniques.

Either Paths, or Free Select.

I would use free select, although it can be a real pain to get it exactly right.
