Customs in Smash 4. Great idea, not executed very well. Shoddy implementation and no support for the DLC characters. Do customs make it into Smash 5? And if they do, how do you think they should be handled? (Implementation, obtaining, balance, e.t.c.)
Personally, I do think they'll come back. I think there's been enough effort put into the base concept that they can't just leave it behind for only Smash 4.
Ideally, I'd like customs to be either alternate options based on the matchup (Ganondorf's custom Wizard's foot, Crescent Slash) or implementing the movesets of other characters from the same series that don't make it in for whatever reasons, but their moves can (Ness with Lucas-style customs, Fox's Wolf flash).
Also, there needs to be a pay to unlock all option to make it easier for competitive players to get them if they come through RNG drops again.
