Smash 3DS and Smash Wii U have been out for over a year now, and I've noticed that this forum has been lacking a thread to showcase our character customizations. Here, you can showcase your customized characters so that others can see them. Your customizations can come from either Smash 3DS or Smash Wii U.

I'll start by showing mine.

I see that you have acquired several perfect +85/-42 generic equipment on your 3DS and transferred them over to your Wii U. Since I only own the Wii U version, I am curious about this: Do you tend to find +85/-42 generics more often on the 3DS version? The bulk of mine come out of Crazy Orders.

Also since all my fighters originate and exist solely on my Wii U, their customizations are often in a state of flux, as I routinely modify them as I acquire upgraded equipment. I won't flood this thread with the hundreds of customizations I have, so instead I'll explain how mine are organized for each fighter:

Slots 1 & 6 are usually reserved for Classic 9.0 builds. While slot 6 varies, slot 1 always has the following:
Auto-Heal Brawn Badge (or Protection or even non-badge if the stats are better)
2 strongest generic, character-specific defense equipment.
This gives me triple digit defense, non-negative offense, and double digit negative speed.

Slots 2 & 7 are usually reserved for Crazy Orders builds. Slot 7 varies more, but slot 2 often looks like the following:
First Striker
Home-Run Bat
Quick Batter
These are generally my strongest in each color category, so that every fighter has positive stats in all three categories. Some of my characters use Trade-off Defender and/or Desperate Immortal instead, but the bat is always present.

Slots 3 & 8 are usually reserved for Trophy Rush builds. It is not nearly as consistent, build-wise. Many of my characters prefer having Beam Swords and/or Speed Crasher, while most will generally have Risky Respawner so that all three stats are positive. I generally prefer speed over attack or defense in this mode.

Slots 4 & 9 tend to be reserved for Event Match builds. These also vary wildly, and are catered to specific events. I tend to focus more on attack builds in this mode over speed or defense. Since DLC characters have no events, these are great spots for reserving equipment I don't want to lose when I hit the dreaded 3000 cap.

Slot 5 tends to be reserved for Co-op Event Matches (which I play solo with both controllers.) Slot 10 is mostly a catch-all for other modes of play, such as Master Orders, or for reserving equipment. I also deviate from this whole scheme for some characters when I need more than a few slots for a specific game mode for a specific character. For example, Bowser has more Master Orders builds than any of my other characters and Palutena has more Trophy Rush builds than any other character.

My naming conventions generally correspond to the game modes where I use the builds. Examples include Classic9.0, CrazyOrder, CrazyTrade (for my alternate builds), TrophyRush, EventMatch, Co-opEvent, and so on. Sometimes I alter the names with numerals to indicate the strength of their stats, often resorting to international alphabets / symbols so I can actually use more than five digits (why Nintendo, why?!)

Perhaps in a future post, I will include a few specific builds, but for now, the above is generally how I organize my custom fighters.

Truthfully, I had to modify my Smash 3DS equipment supply with a save editor, especially when you consider how ultra rare it is to even get a single piece of Anchor Jump or Double-Jump Drag equipment. It's very tedious trying to get the right kinds of equipment in-game, especially with Smash 3DS's lack of Crazy Orders, and frankly, I got quite tired of always getting random equipment with bad stats, especially when the equipment is more often generic than having bonus effects.

While I haven't done too much experimentation with customs, I have found an absolutely deadly combination with Sheik. If you give Sheik equipment with Crash Run, you can simply dash into someone then easily connect a sweetspotted up smash. It pretty much eliminates Sheik's only weakness, which is kill power. If she is able to connect that deadly move by simply dashing into you, it is scary! It forces many people to sit in shield when you approach, which is also great because Sheik's grabs are extremely rewarding. I really want to take it online and try tourney mode with it to see exactly how good this custom is, but I only own the 3DS version so I can't, but my friends all agree that it is broken.
