Hey all,

I've created a REALLY easy way for newbies out there to create their own custom SSS. This tool is very barebones, it will not create the pretty "Counterpick" or "Banned" icons and portraits, but it will allow you to control what stages appear on pages 1 and 2. (Max 14 on page 1 and max 21 on page 2).

If you have been intimidated about editing Hex and have neglected to make your own SSS, even though you really wanted to, than this tool is for you.

First, some things about myself. My tag is Broccoli and I play in the tri-state area. I've been playing PM for a little less than a year now and I still have a really long ways to go before I'm anywhere near as good as I want to be. Last night, after leaving from friendlies on the new SSS screen I made for Nebulous, I thought to myself, why can't everyone have this? So i spent the last 7 hours making this tool for those of you who want their own SSS.

A quick walkthrough for all you guys:

Before you start, you should ABSOLUTELY BACKUP YOUR EXISTING RSBE01.gct file. This is located in <pm folder>/codes. That way, if anything does happen, you can simply replace the file without any problems.

  1. Download the rar file from this dropbox location https://www.dropbox.com/s/khh3a68t3hgbhpv/SSSCreator.rar?dl=0

  2. Unzip the RAR to the place you want to INSTALL the application. This is a permanent location, you will not be able to run the application from anywhere else (Visual Studio huzzah).

  3. If you noticed, the RSBE01.gct file, which holds the SSS data, is included within the RAR. This is on purpose, the file I've included is made to work with this tool, and will work on any 3.5 PM installation.

  4. After clicking setup.exe, the application will appear. Browse to the install directory you created or chose before and select OK. This folder needs to have that RSBE01.gct file within it.

  5. After selecting the directory, click Load. You should be greeted with a success message. If you are not, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I will fix it ASAP. I just tested the file before creating the RAR but you never know.

  6. After selecting OK from the message box the application will be populated with a bunch of dropdowns. From here you can select Page one or two (from the top) and the size of each page. Please note that page one is confined to 14 stages, and page 2 to 21. I'll have to look into adding more if there is enough demand, Although most stage lists don't exceed 14 anyway, and any that don't fit you can throw on a smaller page 2.

  7. Select the stages you want from the dropdowns, make sure everything is good, and select Export. I highly suggest you export to a different directory, or the same directory with a different name (not RSBE01.gct). That way you have the backup, just in case.

  8. After exporting the file you need to rename it to RSBE01.gct and copy it to the proper folder in your PM install directory. This is usally <pm folder>\codes. Overwrite the RSBE01 file that is already in there.

  9. That's it, you're done. Safely remove your hardware and test it out. If your game freezes up or doesn't start, simply restore the backup of your file that you made at the beginning (I really hope you did), and if you didn't redownload PM from the website.
As I said, I created this app in 7 hours, so if there are bugs, please report them in this thread or let me know at taylogreg91@gmail.com.

Hope you all enjoy. Cheers.

It sucks this doesn't work with the classic expansion pack (what I use), but it looks like a very nicely designed tool! Good job man!
