Custom notches

I've heard Kadano post about making custom notches before, mainly to make specific angles more accessible for specific techniques like reverse ledgedash etc.

Ive personally had a problem with my C stick registering >1 inputs when i press or flick back or down when I'm on the ledge; sometimes I get a normal drop off ledge, which is what I want, but sometimes it will immediately give me an aerial after I fall off the ledge, rendering the technique not only useless but dangerous to perform in tournament.

My goal is to have a C stick that will be consistent in dropping me off the ledge, which I will use for ledge dashes and platform ledge dashes, as well as in edgeguarding situations.

Does anybody have any experience with making custom notches for either the control stick or C stick? Or has anybody had a similar problem to me, and solved it by replacing the C stick entirely with a new one?

No idea how it works. I've never let got of the edge using the C stick. My guess is that maybe it works a little like the control stick where pushing it part way will give you a "walk" (which is enough to make you let go of the edge) and then pushing it the rest of the way inputs the attack. It would be similar to how light shielding is essentially "on the way" to hard shielding, so you accidentally light shield attacks sometimes. I mostly just feel like making notches will not help with this problem.

On top of that, I don't know what the consensus on custom notches is in terms of tournaments. If it's not allowed, practicing with it is a bad idea. There's also the possibility of wrecking your controller and even if it works, if your controller dies, then you will have to get used to the new notches you make in your next controller (it would be hard to get them the exact same, I think).

TL;DR
- You only have to input "walk" on the control stick to let go of the edge, so maybe pushing the c-stick all the way till give you the walk and then the aerial. No idea if custom notches will help your c-stick problem.
- I don't know if you are allowed to have custom notches in your controller at tournaments.
- You could accidentally ruin your controller.
