I don't know if this error has been addressed before but I couldn't find any helpful solutions to this problem. I recently tried adding custom music to Project M 3.6. I'm running it on dolphin so i converted the custom music to a BSTRM and then renamed to the track I was replacing then dropped it in my virtual SD card where the music files are and it replaced the old track. Everything seemed to work fine when I loaded up the Smashville stage, the music was playing fine. A few minutes into the match the music randomly makes a loud noise and cuts to the original music for the stage. This also happens in the my music where you can listen to the tracks. I cant figure out how to fix it.
ANY help is greatly appreciated.

I think this problem's been known for a while now. I've never played on dolphin, but this has happened to me on the Wii, too. What I do is: never replace music. For example, if you want to add a song like A01, delete the one that's already on the strm folder (if there's any), and then add the one you want. I've been using this method for a long time now :) hopefully it works on dolphin too.

Two solutions. Buy a new SD card (Much much preferred) or Defrag your SD card. The issue with the music is an SD card.

If that doesn't work, Download a new BRSTM. The BRSTM is possibly corrupt.

EDIT: Oh you were talking about Dolphin. Sorry, can't help you there.

Are you using gecko to load p:m on dolphin? If not use that and set hooktype to vbi.

Additionally I have a small experiment I want you to try, if you don't mind. Open up gameconfig.txt and change codelistend to a larger number.

The only thing you'll accomplish by defragging your sd card is to shorten it's life. Flash memory does not need to be defraged. Defragging helps traditional platter based hard drives because there is a physical component that performs read/write operations. Keeping your files together on the physical drive quickens up the read/write process. Flash memory has no moving parts therefore defragging provides no benefit.

Thanks for the help I tried all the solutions. I already had the hooktype set to VBI, when I setup gecko the tutorial said to set it to VBI. Also I didn't see any effect when I increased codelistend from 80580000 to 90580000. When I tried the solution of not replacing the BRSTM and making a new one it seem to fix but the only thing it did was make it so the track cut out later in the song, like towards the end. Other tracks cut out early and switch to different music too.

The brstms themselves are OK, right? Also, are you using p:m 3.6 with no modifications except music or are you using netplay, etc. AwesomeM7 AwesomeM7

Edit: Try deleting the line " hooktype = 7 " from your gameconfig, if it exists.
