Custom Moves to Create "Official" Derivatives?

A thought occurred to me:
With the massive amount of custom moves and palettes in Smash 4, you could potentially create an "official" configuration for derivative characters that weren't actually included as playable fighters.

For instance:
For Dark Samus (the Phazon-based one, not the Aether one), you could set her palette to Dark Samus and set all of her moves to "Custom Move 2" or something. This makes her essentially a different character.

The same goes for Alph. He's already included a an alternate palette, so in theory you could make some of Olimar's custom moves Alph's 'de-facto' moves and you have two different characters, basically.

This is all spit-balling though, what do you guys think?

Wouldn't it be "unofficial" derivatives? Anyways, that's an interesting idea! Being a big fan of Metroid, I'd love to try out Dark Samus vs Samus. Maybe one of these days I may get lucky and actually unlock custom moves for these fighters...

You could also use several of Bowser Jr.'s palettes for the same concept.

I've thought about this a lot. For example, if you give Fox 3331 custom moves and the purple skin you have something that kinda looks and plays like Wolf. Or give Ness 3323 custom moves and you have something similar to Lucas.

But i've gone a step further as well. I've given these builds custom equipment to make them even more like their brawl counterparts. Wolf has + attack and defence, - speed and sprinting speed, and more aerial mobility. I gave "Lucas" + speed and sprinting speed, moon launcher, and - Attack.

Its super fun to play around with custom equipment. You can kinda add new characters into the game this way.

If there was a way to standardize (either through vote or general consensus) certain custom movesets, do you think they'd allow these "custom characters" in tournaments? It wouldn't be much different than allowing a clone character (hi Lucina) into a tournament, especially if they were standardized across all tournaments

It's a fun idea, but it's so arbitrary and subjective that I doubt you'd get far with it, unfortunately. But it would be a fun thing to do on the side, sure.

Hopefully one day the competitive community will see the light and embrace custom equipment. People can see potential in it, but everyone is too scared something will be overpowered/not fair, plus logistical issues, ect.
