Ok I feel like through searching I haven't found much on this subject, but has anyone found a guaranteed way to grind for custom moves for certain characters in this game? (much how like how you could with Smash Run on the 3DS)

If you play All-Star mode or Target Blast as a certain character, then you will usually have a greater chance of getting equipment and custom moves for that character. Also, some custom moves can only be unlocked by completing certain challenges.

Just play as the characters you like, and you'll get their moves. There isn't really a good method I've found. All you need to do is play the game.

Trophy Rush worked best for me. It has a high chance of giving moves for the character you play as. That's how I got the last 15. It helps to make a custom build for trophies. I find that Thistle Jump helps most characters.

While you can increase your odds of getting certain custom specials by using specific characters, you're not exactly guaranteed to get the ones you're looking for.

For example, using Little Mac may increase your odds of getting his custom specials, but you can still end up getting custom specials for the other characters instead.

You could also resort to Master Orders and Crazy Orders to hunt down custom specials, but you only really have a chance of getting your chosen fighter's custom specials while you're facing Crazy Hand. Refer to here for how the custom parts are handled in those two game modes.

Target Blast and Classic (and All Star, technically) weight the drops toward your character. Crazy Orders are also a good method, but aren't weighted, so it's better for getting customs in general, instead of finishing off specific characters.
