Custom Battle portrait help

Ok so today I tried to change roys battle portraits which I assumed were infface391-396 so when I loaded a match up it crashed. HELP! Plz. Thanks.

What did you replace them with? A crash indicates the files are either
A. Not present on the SD card
B. File-size too big
C. some other error.

Ok so I put battle portraits of smash 3 roy into infface391-396 and thought it would be alright because i'm not use to editing battle portraits.

You opened the file in Brawlbox and replaced the image with the Smash 3 Roy BPs, right?

That's odd, it sounds like the filesize is over. If it's the Smash 3 Roy portraits, download InfFace391-396 from here and they should work.

Oh as well how would I make custom battle portraits because some some of the models im using have battle portraits would I have to delete the palettes because my base is sjs's csp icons

First, grab the latest BrawlBox from here. This will let you modify the InfFaceXXX Files.
Start BrawlBox, then open one of the files. You should see the image after opening up a few folders. Right click the image and click Replace, then browse to the BP image you want to replace it with and it should work.

Thats what i did yesterday and it ended up crashing

You have to make sure the images are indexed (to reduce file size unless it's already done for you) and set the image you're using to a size of 48x56 (any different size will cause freezing issues), then make sure the format is the same as the old one, which I believe is CMPR but I may be wrong, and then just save it.

If you're still getting issues then you're simply doing something wrong on your part.

CMPR is correct, anything else and it could potentially crash it due to file size or whatever.
