Hello. I am currently seeking 2D character artists and environmental artists for an indie Xbox 360 game currently development. I figured it would be a good idea to ask smashboards artists since im sure there are a ton of talented individuals amongst you. I originally was not going to look for artists until I get a tech demo of the game up and running, but artists are needed during the design phase. I will summarize all the details of the project within the following questions.

Whats this game about?
The game is a 2D turn based action strategy game(I really couldn't think of a better genre name). Its very similar to the Worms series, Gunbound and Battle Tanks to give you clear idea of the basics of the gameplay. I'm taking this genre and I'm adding new features to it, things I have never seen done in this genre. For example, one of the main features are character classes(Ninja, Witch, Commando, etc etc). Each character class plays extremely unique and all have their pros and cons. Balance is pretty important to make everything work out. Anyways. You get a basic idea of the gameplay. The game is still being designed, so I have not worked out many details yet.

What do I get for working on this project?
I would first like to mention that this is an non-profit project. I don't have high expectations on making money(and even if with do it will be very little seeing as how much Microsoft actually gives back to the indie developers) with this game and everyone that is involved in this project is doing so for the experience and to build up our resumes/portfolios. This will give you an ideal opportunity to also practice your art and be motivated to draw. Besides, how many opportunities will you have to work on an actual legit game that people will purchase? :O

What would my responsibilities be?
I'm only selecting a small handful of artists that specialize in certain things(unless your awesome and can do anything ;o). Specifically I am looking for 2D Character and Environmental artists.
Character artists should be comfortable working with concept art, general character art and sprites. I'm fully aware most artists have never touched a sprite drawing in their life(This is true for even most game artists). However, this is a good opportunity to give a try
Environmental artists will be responsible for creating the backgrounds for each level and the terrain art(As seen in worms).
Artists are also subject to general game designing as well and character designing.

How do I sign up?
Well. Like I said before, I'm only selecting a small handful of artists. Just post in this thread with examples of your art and list what position you are interested in with also your contact information(AIM, MSN or Skype. If you don't have any of those, email would be good. If not even that, just say "PM me" . Art skills of all levels are welcomed to sign up! So don't feel intimidated if you think you are "not good enough".

I hope I was pretty clear on everything and I hope some of you may find this to be an interesting opportunity. Suggestions and questions are welcomed =)
